This years adventure was the best we have had yet. Although the rain seemed to be our constant companion we had an excellent time. We were joined by three friends that couldn't make it last year. Miles A. Lumbard was our expert guide and he is also known to make a killer plate of grub. Miles kept us all from starving in style this year.
We were also happy to have our good friend Ted Kierscey along for one day of the trip. Ted is very knowledgeable about the area's history and also provides all of the excellent historical photos for the Narrow Guage Circle. Ted has promised to join us for a longer stay next year. We are holding him to it!. A new freind joined us for a couple of days this year. Bill Strong, author and expert on the Silverton Railroad's passes came along, and endured Mark's driving. Bill is a great guy, and full of stories. Make sure you visit the link on the Narrow Guage Circle that will take you to Silverton Specialties. Bill offers an extraordinary line of railroad related belt buckles in several designs. The rest of the crew was made up of last years team. Mark and Jerry make quite a pair! Here's hoping you'll join us for San Juan Odyssey 2000! |
