I built both an upper and lower support frame work for the Helix out of 3/4" plywood. Threaded rods go between the support structures. The levels of the Helix are cut from ¼” plywood. I split each level into quarter sections. The sections were then laminated together. Care was taken to overlap the sections. The metal support brackets were cut from strap metal found at Home Depot. Each support bracket has a nut and lock washer on the top and bottom to hold things in place. This system worked very well for me. I had to spend a great deal of time adjusting the final height of each level. This system allows those adjustments to be easily made.
