Now this looks OK but it was not easy to get to this point.
I found my rubber cement was not applyed thick enough thus I could not pull up the base paint for the "peeling paint" look. I was finally able to scrape away some of the base paint to expose the iron surfacer product. I applied the rusting solution but it didn't seem to have any effect.
I reread the instructions and found out that the iron surfacer rusts better if the rust solution is applied when the iron surfacer is still wet.
